WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEELIXIR ASHWAGANDHA
The ease of taking it:
I love Teelixir's Ashwagandha for the ease of taking it as a standalone herb and really feeling into the benefits it brings. Generally, I prepare mine as a 'tea' with water, plant-based milk, honey and a touch of cardamom which really helps to mask the classic bitterness that Ashwagandha brings. Considering it's a powder, I thought it may clump together and be a little hard to mix into the milk and water, but it blended in with ease.
Stress relief and deep sleep:
I have it at night to help with stress relief, lower cortisol and aid in helping me sleep a little deeper. I definitely notice a feeling of relaxation and clear-headedness when I take it in the early evening after dinner. I often go through phases of waking up a couple of times a night with a racing mind and this really helps me sleep through the night without waking. If I do wake, it's brief and I can fall back to sleep easily. I also notice the next day if I have some early morning stressors I am more level-headed and can deal with those situations a lot easier. I'm sure a good night's sleep contributes to that, but I do feel that Ashwagandha is working its magic on my stress response as well.
WHAT WOULD MAKE ME LOVE IT EVEN MORE
As I mentioned above, Ashwagandha does have a not-so-great taste and for those with a sensitive palate, this could be an issue. The taste can be masked pretty easily though when mixed with a few other key ingredients. I've added it to my morning smoothie with banana, greens powder and honey and found I really can't taste it much at all.
As with other Teelixir products, I would love to see them switch to glass jars simply for the ease of closing the lids. I find that with the push-down tin lid, sometimes it's hard to get an airtight seal and that can contribute to the product clumping in the container as moisture creeps in over time.
In Summary:
Pros
- A potent herbal medicine that potentially helps with stress and anxiety management. Backed by science and millennia of human use
- 100% certified organic and 10:1 dual extracted to concentrate it sufficiently
- Mixes easily in food and drink
- 100% money-back guarantee
Cons
- Would like to see air-tight packaging to prevent moisture from getting in
- Some people may find the taste of ashwagandha a bit too intense

ASHWAGANDHA HEALTH BENEFITS
Ashwagandha is one of the more well-known and well-researched Ayurvedic herbs. It has been used for thousands of years to help with numerous health conditions and really does pack a punch when it comes to regulating your nervous system and in turn, results in many different health benefits for the body.
Better Sleep: Matching my own results with better sleep are the studies showing Ashwagandha does help people sleep better when compared to a placebo. Better sleep – better energy – happier stress-free vibes! Ashwagandha has also been shown to help lower cortisol which in turn equals better blood sugar control (for fewer energy dips throughout the day).
Muscle strength and size: Research has also shown that Ashwagandha may help muscle strength and size - as well as cardio endurance. So, if you enjoy your daily gym sessions, or working out in general, taking a dose of Ashwagandha in your morning smoothie could become one of your new favourite pre-gym routines.
Let's get sexy: Ashwagandha has been reported in study participants to improve sexual function in women. This includes arousal, lubrication, orgasm and satisfaction. In a stress-related study that was conducted on men, researchers found that taking Ashwagandha helped increase testosterone production in men, as well as help to properly regulate testosterone in women. There have also been some small studies conducted in men using Ashwagandha that showed a significant improvement in sperm count and quality.
Sharper memory and focus: If you thought the benefits couldn't get any better, Ashwagandha has also been shown to improve memory and focus, improve attention span and general memory recall.
Getting to the heart of it: At least two studies have shown that Ashwagandha may increase V02 max levels (the maximum amount of oxygen you take in while physically exerting yourself). V02 levels are used in measuring cardiorespiratory endurance which essentially is how well the lungs and heart deliver oxygen to your muscles during physical exertion of any form. The amount of V02 levels contributes to a healthy heart that performs well under exertion. The higher the V02 levels, the better!
FAQ:
How much do I take per day and when is the best time to take it?
There is no official dosage advice for Ashwagandha, however, Teelixir recommends starting out with a ½ teaspoon per day which can be divided into 2 doses if you prefer.
You can take Ashwagandha at any time of day. I chose to take ½ tsp before bed because it helps me to get a great sleep but have also taken in the morning and found great benefits for energy. It is an adaptogen, so it helps our body adapt to its environment, whether we need to wake up or sleep.
Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
It's always best to check with your health practitioner before starting any supplement - especially if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
In Ayurvedic practice, Ashwagandha has been used during pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding for many, many years and is said to provide the mother with strength and vitality while increasing milk production and reducing stress. It is much better to be safe than sorry though, so I will say it again - to be aware of the risks and benefits of taking Ashwagandha, consult a qualified practitioner before you begin supplementing if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How long does it take to start seeing results/benefits?
Ashwagandha works to balance and strengthen your body from the moment you start taking it but like any supplement, it does take time and regular use to really feel the benefits. We are all unique in our constitution and connection to body - and some of us will start to feel the benefits right away, for others it may take a few days or a few weeks to really start to notice a difference. Consistency is key with any supplement regime.
Customer Reviews
Don't just take my word for it - here's what some other verified buyers of Teelixir's Ashwagandha have to say about it:
"So glad to resume this adaptogen for my overall body systems. Especially it seems to support healthy male functions very well."
"I love Ashwagandha, it helps me get relaxed in the evening before going to bed."
"I have only been taking Ashwagandha for a short time but have noticed a distinct feeling of calmness along with noticeable mental clarity."
Any alternatives I think are worth considering:
If stress resilience and restful sleep are your focus right now, there are a couple of other great products you can stack with Teelixir Ashwagandha to really dial in the benefits:
1.) SuperFeast Ashwagandha Capsules
If you want to take ashwagandha but really struggle with the flavour no matter what you mix it with - try the SuperFeast Ashwagandha Capules. A great product from another excellent brand - this one allows you to get your daily dose of Ashwagandha without any flavour at all.
Teelixir Reishi Powder is another great herbal tonic that helps relieve stress in the body and supports quality and restful sleep. Pairing this with ashwagandha makes for a great combo.
3.) Kenko Matcha Tea
Despite containing caffeine, high-quality matcha tea like Kenko Ceremonial Grade Matcha is actually famous for relaxing the body and promoting great sleep due to contain high levels of a compound call L-theanine. Another great pairing with ashwagandha to amplify to stress-reducing benefits.
Recipe time!
This is one of my favourite recipes I use to make a delicious Ashwagandha elixir in the evening for relaxation and deep sleep.
Ingredients
- Teexlixir Ashwagandha
- Turmeric Powder
- Milk – I love making my own macadamia milk, but you can use any type of milk you prefer
- Cinnamon stick
- ¼ tsp Cardamon (ground)
- Maple Syrup – I switch it up between honey and maple syrup, both taste great just make sure you're using pure maple syrup
Method
This recipe is extremely easy. Just heat up your milk, add all of your ingredients and whisk them all together. Let it simmer for a few minutes (we want to infuse that cinnamon taste). Transfer to your favourite mug and enjoy!
*We all know how warm summer nights can be, this is really tasty and enjoyed cold as well. Follow the above method, let it cool, and then add ice.
Conclusion
There are some really great teas, blends, and mushrooms out there for promoting a good night's sleep and helping your body deal with stress better, and I've tried A LOT of them, but Ashwagandha is by far my favourite.
It provides me with the most benefits without any form of drowsiness.
We are living in a fast-paced modern world and dealing with tonnes of stress on a daily basis, that's our reality. Our bodies sometimes need a helping hand to cope with all life's happenings. I'd recommend Ashwagandha to everyone - the benefits are far-reaching, the cost is extremely reasonable for a 30-day supply and Teelixir produce some of the best ashwagandha in Australia.
Just remember - consult your GP before taking it, and always start out slow with any new supplement to see how your body reacts!
